Shorthorn cattle
Primarily registered Shorthorn and Shorthorn Plus, with a couple of club cows we've grown very fond of. A small herd, handled often and known by name.
Registered Shorthorn
Purebred, registered cattle — one of the oldest and loveliest of the improved breeds, and still among the most gentle to be around.
Shorthorn Plus
Recorded percentage Shorthorns, bringing that same sweet disposition and wonderful mothering into a crossbred package.
Club cows
A couple of show-type cattle in the herd — just the sort a young person can halter, work with daily, and be proud to lead into the ring.
Why we love Shorthorns
Their temperament, above all. On a small place where the cattle share the ground with geese, chickens and a flower patch, and where someone is out among them every single day, a calm and kindly animal is everything.
Shorthorns give us that, along with wonderful mothering, easy calving and the sort of steady, even growth that never needs to be pushed. The registered side keeps everything properly documented for anyone looking for breeding stock, and our Plus cattle carry that same gentle nature right through to their calves.
