A little farm, tended with a great deal of care

Farm, flock and flowers. It isn't a slogan someone wrote for us — it's simply what you'd find if you walked out our back door.

Flock

Sebastopol, Embden and Toulouse geese in their own pens, our Bresse chickens, and a cheerful mixed flock of ducks and hens. Every egg is gathered here and set here, and every gosling is brooded here until it's ready for a home of its own. Nothing is shipped in from a hatchery with our name on the box — it all begins in our own nests.

Flowers

A dahlia patch that blooms longer than most, because our Valley stays warm long after other gardens have called it a year. Fresh cut flowers all season, and tubers divided from our own clumps once the plants have finished.

Farm

Registered Shorthorn and Shorthorn Plus cattle, and a couple of club cows. A small herd, handled often enough that we know every one of them by name.

How we like to do things

By conversation. You won't find a shopping cart here, and that's quite on purpose. Hatching eggs, goslings, flowers, tubers and cattle all follow a calendar set by the birds, the weather and the season — not by an inventory system. So you ask, and we tell you warmly and honestly what we have and when it will be ready.

It also means we'll happily tell you when something isn't quite ready yet, or when waiting three weeks would serve you far better. We'd rather you have a wonderful experience than a quick one.
